Mule Deer are named for their large, 9 inches long, mule-like ears that keep deer alert for signs of danger.
Mule Deer are ruminants and digest the food in much the same way as a cow. They utilize a wide range of vegetative food – leaves, stems, and shoots of woody plants.
The reproductive rate of Mule Deer is 94 fawns per 100 does.
Mule Deer are active at dawn and dusk, when they venture from protective cover. In the daytime deer are bedded down in cool secluded places.
